Who says ONE is the loneliest number? ;)

Last weekend was the party celebrating the first birthday of my twin niece and nephew, Ava and Aiden. They are the youngest children of my brother and sister-in-law (Lisa of LGPerspectives photography) and are some of my favorite children in the world (along with their older brother, almost-4-year-old Ben). Lisa and I spent many hours planning, making decorations, and baking for these little sweeties. Gratuitous baby photo time!

Ava
Aiden

and, just for fun, Benny boy!
Love them! Aaaanyway, back to the party. It was really exciting to see all of the details we worked so hard on come together!

Sweets table - OMG yum

We had a blast creating this party and I can't wait to do more! You can see the full gallery of pics at Lisa's blog. Check back soon for tutorials for some fun and easy DIY projects!

Joel and Andrea: Married!

A few weekends ago, I had the pleasure of assisting my bff Lisa of LGPerspectives photograph the wedding of Joel and Andrea at Grand Valley State University. I'm still very new at this photography thing...but I'm having fun learning and playing around in Photoshop ;)

One word for the flowers: LOVE. Peonies, orchids, lily of the valley....yum.

I always have to see the groom's face when he sees his bride walking down the aisle...

At first I was a little disappointed with how crooked this shot came out..but then I decided I liked how I was sort of "peeking in" on a special moment and just went with it :)

The reception was held in this beautiful alumni house...
Ring shots..my faves!
Congrats again, Andrea and Joel! Thanks for letting me be part of your special day.

Feast your eyes

These bouquets make my heart happy today. Full, lush, wanna-smoosh-your-face-in-'em flowers in the most perfect colors. The amazing dresses behind them don't hurt, either! This is one of my favorite photo crops :)

Happy Friday!

What I'm Loving Today...

Or, more precisely, what I've been loving for quite awhile now. I can't say I'm much of a Western girl myself (although I sure seem to like that country music...), but there has been an explosion of rustic, country-inspired weddings lately! Don't get me wrong, I had the absolute BEST time at our wedding, but with all of the gorgeous eye candy out there, how can you not be inspired?? I love, love, love the photo above and in my fantasy wedding world I would totally have my girls wear short dresses with cowboy boots.

And I would have a cake like this. On a stand like that. With sweet little birdies on top!

Gorgeous, no?

5 year diary

Oh my, my. I've been remiss! I can't believe it's been three weeks since my last blog post. Yikes! It's not for lack of projects, more of the opposite really - 2 more weddings, helping plan the most a-freaking-dorable party for my twin niece and nephew, several ruined batches of macarons *sad face*, and a rock the frock session in my wedding dress, just to name a few - I have been neglecting my poor little blog. Well no more, I say!

At least I have gotten better at keeping up with my new friend, the 5 year diary:

Isn't it adorable?? I totally have been keeping the wraparound label on it, because it's just so cute and woodsy. Each day has it's own page and is divided into 5 sections so you can jot down thoughts and events for the next 60 months of your life. There is really only room for a few sentences each day, so even a slacker like myself can keep up (although, I must admit: I sometimes have to do a couple days at a time). I just think it will be fun in the next few years to look back and see what I was doing on a particular day! What can I say, I'm just sentimental like that. ;)
