Megan & Chris: A Few Details

This past weekend was very busy (but very exciting!). Saturday was the first wedding for Lisa of LGPerspectives as the main photographer. Luckily for me, she decided to have me come along and act as her assistant. I also got a chance to play around with a camera, which was a really fun experience. The wedding was held in the bride's hometown church, and it was the perfect setting! We spent a lot of time outside snapping away, and I managed to come away with a few shots I am pretty pleased with!

Fostoria, Michigan

Fabric flowers in mason jars lined the aisle of the sanctuary, and they.were.AMAZING!

The gorgeous rings, along with the sweet and simple program (blurred for privacy).

These adorable cookies were the favors!

I've always been such a sucker for ring shots - and with a gorgeous ring like that, how could I resist?

Stunning bouquet.

My favorite of the ones I took :)

"behind the scenes" shot - the bride and her 'maids holding out their bouquets for Lisa's camera.

The guys.

Congratulations Megan and Chris! You were up for anything and did all the poses we asked you to. Even the awkward ones, haha! We had a blast!

Head on over to the LGPerspectives blog to see a sneak peek of this sweet wedding.

What I'm Loving Today....

Ah, succulents. If only I had known you existed many moons ago! I'm drawn to the juxtaposition of the sturdy leaves next to the beauty of a flower...in fact, no one puts it better than the encyclopedia itself:
"There is something architectural about cactuses and their succulent cousins...[they] occupy their spaces with an authority that willowy plants just can't manage."

I couldn't have said it better myself!

Check out the gorgeousness of this bouquet! And the succulent in the hair? Swoon...The perfect accessory for a desert wedding!

Showered with Papery Goodness

One of my favorite materials to use in crafting lately is paper. Inexpensive (sometimes), versatile, and oh so pretty - I love me some pretty, textured paper! (Have you seen this wood grain paper from GMund? Uh-mazing.) Annnnnyway, when I was asked to plan a bridal shower, I thought it would be the perfect time to pool all of my ideas and Google reader paper crafty inspiration-ness! (It's late. For me.) So with the help of my partner in crime, Lisa, we created some super cute paper crafts! Unfortunately, the morning of the shower was slightly jam-packed so we didn't get to take photos of the room all set up - but yesterday, Lisa and I were hanging out and decided to give a few of the details of the day their chance in the spotlight: (Pictures courtesy of Lisa at LGPerspectives)

Tissue paper poms - I actually forgot these at home so they didn't make an appearance at the shower! But so cute (especially if haven't gotten crushed in transport, like mine appear to...) they were super easy to make - just a styrofoam ball, tissue paper, and hot glue.

Here is another beauty shot of the poms, along with a yellow fabric one (in the background) made by Lisa:
Another fun and easy project was the pinwheel. We stuck a couple of these in each of the potted gerber daisy centerpieces. They look so cute with flowers, so they got to hang out with the tulips growing in Lisa's flowerbeds!
My only real regret is that there are no photos of the cupcake display! They were beautiful, from the special cupcake papers to the flags to the tiered platter...I brought 2 home, one for me and one for my husband...needless to say, they didn't make it to this photo shoot. There will definitely be more cuteness to come, I know of two exciting events in the near future that are shaping up to be more than adorable...both chock full of glorious paper projects!

Hello, Bonjour, Hola!

Well hello there! My much-anticipated blog is finally here...well, ok, I may be the only one who has been anticipating this (and possibly my fabulous sister-in-law) but still, a new endeavor is always exciting! Speaking of new endeavors, I am a newlywed (exactly how long is someone considered a newlywed?). My husband and I were married in August of 2009 and after the madness settled we focused on beautifying our home...the main floor, anyway. I discovered that removing wallpaper is the bane of my existence. Did I mention I love painting walls? I may be just a touch crazy, but I like to think it's the good kind! Besides rambling off topic, I also love making lists....in fact, here are a few of my favorite things!

-the Sound of Music (duh)
-blogs
-planning parties - I'm obsessed with all the little details
-my crazy cats (does this make me a crazy cat lady? I'm ok with that...)
-taking pictures - I'm slooowly learning some Photoshop skills and I will be working with my bff (see above: fab SIL) as her assistant, so hopefully I will soon have photos to show off!
-designing wedding invitations (oh how I wish I had a letterpress machine...)
-fancying myself a skilled enough baker to master complicated recipes - occasionally I succeed!
-collecting beautiful fabric/scrapbook paper/anything to add to my craft room
-vintage details

This blog will be dedicated to anything I'm in love with at the moment - projects, recipes, photo shoots - anything goes! So that's a very limited glimpse into what I find exciting. I can't wait to share more!
